Sascha Camili from PETA highlighted the mistreatment of animals in the fashion business. A person can detect the tannery from a distance due to its intense odour and use of chemicals. Cow leather is made in tanneries using harsh chemicals, and long-term exposure to these chemicals puts the workers' health at risk. These substances and solid trash are dumped untreated into open water resources. Tannery in impoverished countries also uses child labour. Animal textile pollutes the air and water and deteriorates the soil. Even tanning with vegetables is useless.

By using animals for leather, wool, mohair, angora, exotic skins like crocodile and snake, and fur, the fashion industry has exploited the environment. However, due to advances in textile technology, a number of alternatives are emerging in the market, pineapple-based pinatex, Vegea, and Apple leather and natural materials like hemp, tencel, organic cotton, plant wool, and soybean. Additionally, there is bio-fabricated leather, which is made to last and is grown in a lab. These are the inventive and imaginative ideas that will abolish the use of animal and environmental products in the era of technological advancement we are currently experiencing.
